Well I made this guy to go with my Latula cosplay because I realized that she had no pockets…and yet I needed pockets for monies and camera and stuff. But she’s too rad for a purse, but a plushie backpack…oh yeah, that’s the thing XDDD

I scaled up a standard scalemates pattern, didn’t do the tail so it’d sit more easily on my back. Did the eyes as fleece instead of buttons so he’d be more durable. Added straps and made him “hollow” so he could hold stuff. He only holds like a camera, an iPod, and a wallet…though I did fit my lipstick in there too

At the Halloween parade, lots of people made comments on it and my outfit; they might not have known what I was (well save for this one person, they knew who I was ^^) they still thought I looked awesome XDD

This looks amazing :D I love how DIY the homestuck community is in terms of cosplay. I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you know roughly how much you scaled up the pattern? My moirails wriggling day is coming up and I'd love to make him something like this even though it's probably a bit out of my skill range.

I actually don't remember to tell you the truth ^^; it was either 150% or 200% I think... (leaning closer to 150...). You can try printing the pattern at one of those and just see if that's the size you want or not is my suggestion: all depends how bug the wearer is and how big you want the bag part to be. And it's not that much different than doing a regular scalemate, just have to do the insert for the "bag" part and straps; I'd also suggest putting items in the bag before stuffing it, that way you don't over stuff and make it impossible to use it as a bag.
