Another sun has set across this land I call my home. The last sun. My dear, wonderful Interia...I have known this day was coming for so very long...and yet it still saddens me to see it actually here. I run my hands along the panels of my respite block, committing to memory every last inch I can, just one last time...Tomorrow marks the beginning of the end. For my people, for myself, for the universe as a whole. Tomorrow the Condesce of Alternia will strike at us. Tomorrow Interia will cease to exist. Tomorrow I shall be declared dead. Tomorrow, I shall no longer dream. So for this last night I will try to reach for him, to callout to this ghost who has always haunted my sleep between the glimpses of the future I have always had. Tonight will be last chance I will ever have to know his name...

I long so desperately for my dreams to return, these nights locked up in this Alternian hole are more than enough to drive the sanest of trolls mad. And not mad with the laughter that echoes from the Subjuggulators' halls so high above. That laughter, that mad echoing, depraved insane laughter. I have begun to wish they would grow tired with me and just kill me now, but I know that won't happen...not yet at the least. I just have to bide my time...wait for the proper moment to come...so I can sleep again...

Days...weeks...months...sweeps...what is time? Time is nothing but a lucid construct...it is nothing, it is worth nothing, it means nothing. The only thing that proves time as an entity is death itself...and even that is a highly debatable state. The laughter never stops....the blood continues to flow...time...time...time...

It's time to let go.

Who says these Alternians are all without class? I've come to grow quite fond of the troll who's been assigned to watch me is quite the fascinating creature. Seems that these bloods, the darker they are, the more unstable they become. And this one is certainly not an exception to that. Always smelling like blood...it's so...comforting. She's also quite the well rounded listener...would be such a shame if something were to happen to her...

The Highblood has also begun to grow tired of the creatures I've made for him. There's only so much one can do with simple cloths...

Hang on...seems I'm not alone...

Oh how I stand by what I said about this blue blood. A most wonderful and intriguing creature she is, and so ingenious too. Bringing me the carcasses of young wrigglers and the occasional pupa...what lovely soft material for me to use. And the look on those Indigoes faces...so taken by my high level of "skill". If only they knew...if only they knew who they really had in their grasp, perhaps they would know to expect it then...

I wasn't called the Death Maiden for nothing...

The time is drawing near, all the signs are aligning. Today...or perhaps it was yesterday...time again it merging all into one thing...in either case, as my guardian was escorting me to see the Highblood, to present him with our latest lovely little gift, a very sweet little green wriggler...we were paused as the silly little Astrologer was attempting to talk to him, to speak the words I'd never heard aloud,

"The destruction is coming; the Death Maiden will be the key trigger..."

I couldn't help the smirk as he exited past us; my need to wait was finally over. The time had finally come for it to end, for it to start. Soon, I will be able to sleep again...

First I must give my dear Artisan the word. She has been so helpful as I was forced to wait for this moment; probably the one thing that kept me sane...well, as sane as one could be in this place. I believe I've done the same for her; if not for my direction I'm sure the Legislacerators would have caught her long ago for all the cullings...now though, our time together, though short, has reached a climax. I do hope, yes hope not know, that our paths will meet again in time…time…time…time…

What a poisonous word. I should move now to wash it from my tongue with the fresh blood of my captors…I hear someone coming; if it be the right someone then it shall begin. This shall mark the ending of us all…

It is a surprising wonder that I set myself to entering this journal one last time. I can hear the cries above my head, calling for blood, as if it were a rare commodity in this place. Oh the morbid entertainment it brings…

I know today marks the end of my life, I’ve always known it. And I’m sure my name will slip into Alternian folklore as an evil demon used to scare the young into submission; they will probably combine my dear Artisan and myself as one entity, just to add to the dramatic effect. I am sorry that it will be my name to her deed, but perhaps it is better that way; her blood can continue without fear of retribution, unlike my own.

She’ll be here soon…to take this tome and my genetic material to stow it away and deliver to the Mother Grub, in that order; after that, I hope she lives her life well and as far as it can take her….It will be many, many generations before another will be seen, but this is the last jest I give to you Condesce, Grand Highblood, and that insufferable Bandalore; the last Interian has fulfilled her purpose, and you yourself will have bred her successor.

And soon, dreams will return again…I’ll be waiting for your sweet embrace my love…my harmonious destruction…
