MH: Don't tell me Tora has regrind?? by KPenDragon MH: Don't tell me Tora has regrind?? by KPenDragon
Ok very literally as I was waiting for my IE to boot up this morning I was looking at my Tora laying on my desk and noticed that her head was the wrong color! Idk if this has always been this way and I just never noticed, but the orange on her head that’s supposed to be the same as her body color is so not the right color! I know from ponys that bright colors, especially oranges, are prone to “regrind” (where the plastic breaks down and you get like neon pink spots) and/or leeching of the vinyl’s dye. I know she’s a multicolored cat so it might be hard to see it at first. And I also know they’ve been bad at matching part coloring lately with the CaMs (upper and lower limbs not matching dye lots), but this is supposed to match and I swear it did once upon a time. And since it’s all even it’s not sun bleaching. And now I’m looking at her more and her hands have it too, it’s much less noticeable because there’s little orange there, but it’s definitely not the right color. This has to be the plastic…

My Tora is marked “Indonesia” and she’s only a little more than 9 months old. Has anyone else had this happen to their Toralei? Is it just cause she’s Indonesia (I know their hair glue is wonky but could the vinyl be too?”

I also can’t help but wonder now if Mattel caught this and that’s why we haven’t had another Toralei doll yet…that’d be nice, shows they care and are trying to fix it then. I’d thought it was cause they were gonna replace her bendy tail. But this makes a lot of sense.

This has actually happened to someone before but with different dolls and the glue in the head was leaking out. It seems to happen to the dolls that are marked "Indonesia". Though the person did order the dolls online.

It hasn't happened to my Toralei or any of my other dolls. You also might what to check your other dolls just to be sure

I'd heard about the Indonesia hair thing, so that's why I checked her stamp as soon as i saw a problem. I've even gone back to look at older shots I took of her and she seemed to be the right color until recently even. I can't help but wonder if the heat and humidity from the summer caused it...but it's good to know that yours hasn't changed colors then. it might not be an overall thing then

It might be the heat and humidity, no one can really be sure.
Didn't this also happen to one of your Draculaura dolls? weren't her arms a darker pink or something?

the Ula arms thing was due to her mesh sleeves. how or why it was discoloring it i'm not 100% sure on, but it was giving it a scaley pattern mimicing the mesh. and i had 2 dolls do that, as well as lots of other people with her 1 wave releases

I see. Weird.
I think the only discoloring I've had is one of my Clawdeen dolls, whose head was darker than her body

Well I looked at mine and I guess it's that way. I had to look really close and I couldn't really tell. The color's off a bit maybe but not so much that I really care about it.

could be. i went looking back at my old photos of her and it only seems to have started to discolor possibly 3 months ago. i think it might've been the humidity this summer. but yeah as long as there's a visual break like a collar or a high colaraed shirt it's not *super* noticeable. but looking at the head/neck seam it was just "whoa that's not right"

Yeah. My Toralei has been inside the whole time. She's also still wearing her neckerchief so I had to move that out of the way.
