MH: Vanessa Explains it All

EDIT: Ok so its been pointed out thta Alucard isn't surnamed Hellsing. Well I'll say again that I'm not a Hellsing fan so I know nothing! But the principle that she's not connected to that then still stands, so please don't go pointing it out to me, cause now I know /EDIT

Well it was brought to my attention that someone else is trying to pass of “Vanessa van Helsing” the character name as their own invention. Now personally, I know it’s a sort of obvious name choice (plus DC does have it © which idk before I made Van ) so I can believe that it was a coincidence. However they also have taken other people’s character names just switching them slightly so idk what’s going on there…as long as it’s just Van’s name that’s similar and not her origin/appearance I really can’t yell.

But that aside, it‘s a perfect opportunity to do this up! To explain a bit about Van.

First her name: like I said, pretty obvious choice. I did nearly name her Abigail, cause her father is Abraham, but I liked calling her Van, so Vanessa stuck.

Her father: Yes, her father is based upon Abraham van Helsing from the Bram Stoker book. NOT Gabriel van Helsing from the Van Helsing movie, and NOT Alucard Hellsing from the anime Hellsing (of which I am not a fan of btw) HOWEVER he is an AU version that I specifically created for the MH universe so he could be considered a “monster”. He isn’t necessarily the book version, nor the version from any of the movies represented, but completely his own.

Monsterhood: I actually think I need to do this to explain everyone one of these days…but anyways, yes. Abe was fixated on killing Vlad, but since he was only mortal he needed a way to permanently interweave their fates so he’d be able to kill him eventually. And what’s more fun then Haitian shaman? Thus, he was “cursed” by choice to live as long as Dracula, and as a side effect gained immortality and advanced healing. Which he then passed along to Vanessa when she was born accidentally (yes, Van wasn’t a planned baby ); her mother was another-mortal-hunter but after getting knocked up left the game but was killed so Abe had to take Van, so she’s the age she appears to be. Aside from her he’s been careful over the years not to have kids incase they inherited his curse.
