Mystery Kids: My Lineup

So this is my headcanoned group of Mystery Kids (Teens?)! Some people you’ll know…some you won’t, and some only people who know me would recognize. But lucky for you, I’ll explain things now! XDDD

Left to right:

Dib Membrane age: 19/20; occupation: freelance paranormal investigator
Dib ends up being the eldest, but since he doesn’t always act it, he’s never really the defacto-leader…just the guy to get them into places with “you must have legal guardianship” places XD;; I’m sure he met the group through a paranormal chat room online, and being an adult, he could pack up and join them near instantly. He’s been in the paranormal business since he was 16/17, and investigates mostly haunted houses and crop circles, but he still has quite the expanse of knowledge in the supernatural. Coraline urks him sometimes, mostly when she corrects him about witches (not his strong suit).

Todd “T” Casil age: 16; occupation: wannabe writer, previously zombie slayer, object of a demonicus’ hold
Does anyone remember my older!Squee concept? “T is for Terror”? Well guess what…it’s back Todd has grown up still living next to Nny, who mellowed out *slightly* over he years and got back with Devi; the two became sorta pseudo-parents to him. His best friends were the son of the devil, a girl who lives in a mortuary, and a ghost girl who haunts his room. His bear Schmee was also possessed by the demonicus entity known as Kakabeal, and is trying to drive Todd insane, telling him to kill his parents and his friends. He does well usually ignoring that though…but yes he’s quite adept at using his scimitars, probably has slain a few zombies here and there, and just all around is really unphazed by the supernatural. He probably also keeps a journal about all their activities…so maybe he and Dipper are writing a volume 4 then.

Norman Babcock age: 13/14; occupation: medium
Norman! I like people’s ideas that he meets the Pines’ on a road trip sorta thing, and then they become internet friends. It was probably Norman who first made contact with Dib, and he probably can sense Kakabeal about Todd but he can’t really see him (because he’s a demonicus not a ghost). But basically, he’s the medium, sees ghosts, can pick up on creepy vibes (spidey-sense jokes abound). He’s really uncomfortable around Mandy and Grim…Grim because he’s death, and Mandy because, well…obvious reasons.

Dipper Pines age: 14; occupations: research and amateur paranormal investigator
Dipper hasn’t changed much as he’s grown up. He tries to be the leader, despite not being the eldest. At time he totally looks up to Dib when he’s all in his “badass mode” but other times…well it’s Dib, you can imagine. He and Todd are working on writing a volume 4 of the book. He gets really bummed out being the only one on the team though without powers (he forgets Mabel lacks powers too because, hello, she’s Mabel) so on a few occasions he tries to “get powers” by like…oh…getting bitten by a werewolf, or using some artifact to call upon the wrath of evil and all that junk.

Mabel Pines age: 14; occupation: craft master extraordinaire, jack of all trades, “the wild card”
Mabel hasn’t changed one bit! She’s as spunky and crazy as always But…it’s easier to spot the method to her madness. She actually does pay attention when people do things, and picks up on things really quickly, even though she seems like the total air head comic relief. Like they’ll be in a jam, with some reawaken mummy trying to break through the door and someone will go “What was the incantation again? GAH WERE ALL GONNA DIE!” then she’ll repeat it perfectly and save everyone and when asked how she remembered later she’d be all like “Oh, I just made it into a pretty song and bam! Ear worm ” I love the idea that she makes sweaters for everyone. She’s adopted Norman and Tootie as her BFFs and tries to get Mandy to be one too, but you know…

Gertrude “Tootie” Summers age: 15; occupation: freelance fae detective
Yes, using my “Detetive Tootie” concept…though slightly modified. She still has the magic ring, but only Norm (I was trying not to use OCs ) She words for the Underground mostly, so she and Mandy have crossed paths while “working” before. She has Norm as her genie, so he’s not *super* helpful, but he’s protective of his girl. But she doesn’t always need magic, she has some pretty expert combat and firing skills thanks to her years being a spy when she was younger, and her sister becoming a cop meant self defense classes were mandatory.

Mandy age: 15/16; occupation: master of Death
Oh Mandy…Mandy, Mandy, Mandy. She’s quite the same as she’s always been for the most part. I’m not entirely sure how she was asked to join the group to tell you the truth; they probably stumbled upon something Grim caused and she just decided she was bored and decided to go follow them. She gets really annoyed with Mabel…but similar to how she was annoyed with Billy I think. She doesn’t really pay any attention to the discomfort she causes Norman, she doesn’t get along with Coraline, but she does shoe some interest in Todd…I’m not sure if Grim can tell Kakabeal is there, but there is something of a dark novelty to him that both of them find interesting.

Coraline Jones age: 18/19; occupation: (practicing and) witch hunter
After the Beldam Coraline found she was more in tuned towards the mystic arts. So she started studying the mystic property of certain herbs, until she realized she could actually sense other types of witches/fae. So she started looking for and getting rid of other dark creatures like the Beldam. I like the idea that she could meet the Pines’ regularly seeing as they live in a closer approximation, but I also think she and Tootie may have crossed paths while “working” as well (since they both go after fae). Coraline is more the leader than Dib or Dipper 9 times out of 10. She and Mandy ruffle each other’s feathers quite a bit, she also urks Dib sometimes when she knows more than he does.

So those are my Mystery Kids headcanons ^^ It’s all crazy I know, but this was still fun ^^ I loved reusing my old Dib and Todd concepts. And visually I tried to put the tallest chars on the ends, with the 4 chard with “familiars” in-between them and the Pines (it was totally lucky I had 2 boys and 2 girls with “familiars” ). So yes, Mystery Kids! I still blame you Vicky XDD
